We're Aksana and Steve, a husband-and-wife team in Vernon Hills, Illinois. Aksana grew up in Eastern Europe eating "kvashnaya kapusta", a fermented cabbage that was as common on the table as bread. We started Kleverbelly in 2025 to share the foods we'd already been making at home for friends and family for years.

Our main ingredients are fresh vegetables, salt, and time, without any additives or shortcuts. If you grew up eating sauerkraut we think you'll find ours a little different (and more interesting!). And if you've been meaning to add fermented foods to your diet but haven't found an easy way to, Kleverbelly's made to go alongside or on top of the dishes you're already eating.
